1945 French Art Deco Fantasia (RKO) First Post-War Release Movie Poster.

Fantasia (RKO, 1945). First Post-War Release French Poster.

One can almost hear Beethoven's "The Pastoral Symphony" when gazing upon this vibrant and colorful poster depicting a mythical ancient Greek world of centaurs and pegasi, courtesy of French artist Roger Jacquier. Developed from a short-subject cartoon based on Paul Ducas' piece, "The Sorcerer's Apprentice," Walt Disney's animated masterpiece, Fantasia, has captivated audiences for generations. One of Disney's most ambitious projects, the film artfully blends top-notch animation with pieces of beautiful classical music, such as Bach's "Toccata and Fugue in D Minor," Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker Suite," and Schubert's "Ave Maria." Original release paper from the film is always in high demand, and this is the rare, large format, full-bleed French poster from the country's first post-war release of the picture. Restoration has addressed some crossfold chips, and creasing in the image. Touchup has been applied to the centaurette and centaur.
